Healthy Holiday Drinks: Homemade Peppermint Hot Cocoa
You know those cold winter evenings (especially during the Holiday times) when you have been SO good with your diet and workouts, but you're just DYING for something sweet and perhaps...cozy?
I have the perfect thing! It's homemade, uses all natural ingredients, and has a low glycemic index. And that's great because the last thing you need are your sugars spiking before bed! Sound too good to be true? It gets better...
This treat is actually soothing on the gut and can help you reduce bloating and indigestion. And I don't know any girl who isn't looking to beat a bad bloat!
All you need are your ingredients, and a saucepan!
Recipe (makes 2 servings)
2 Cups Almond Milk (or nut milk of choice)
2 Tbs. Cocoa Powder
1 Tsp. Vanilla
4 Tbs. 100% Pure Maple Syrup
1 Tsp. Coconut Oil (or almond butter)
1/4 Tsp. Sea Salt
1-2 Drops Peppermint Essential Oil - Young Living is safe to digest! Start with one drop and try it first! I like mine strong so I use two!
Whisk together the nut milk, cocoa, vanilla, maple syrup, coconut oil and salt in a saucepan over medium heat. Once mixture is heated through, take off heat and add the peppermint. Pour into two mugs and serve!
