Rise'N Shine Smoothie: Start your day off right!


RISE'N SHINE lovelies!  This smoothie recipe is my weakness right now, I crave it like mad!  But hey, I guess this isn't the worst thing in the world to be craving 😉  Recently, I've been fuelling my body with food that makes me FEEL GOOD (aka, no wheat/no dairy) and let me tell you, the difference in how I feel in just a few short weeks is UNREAL.  I really believe that once you cut out all of the gunk, your body begins to crave foods that are actually good for you, the more you will enjoy the healthy foods and the better you will feel.  Healthy food DOES NOT have to be boring, and everyone's body responds very differently to certain foods, so do what feels best for yourself.  I know what works best for myself and I hope I can help you too! 

Some people get turned off by drinking a smoothie that looks so green, but let me tell you, the ginger and lime in this recipe give it a really wonderful refreshing zing.  I have been making this exact smoothie for a couple solid weeks now, and STILL not sick of it, so I thought I'd share the recipe with you guys.  Check it out!


  • 1/2 cup coconut milk (or nut milk)
  • 1 cup frozen fruit
  • 1/2 cup frozen diced avocado
  • 1 banana
  • 1/2 of lime, juiced
  • 1 inch cube ginger, sliced
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 large handful of spinach
  • 1 scoop protein powder (I use plant based)

Blend all of these ingredients in your blender.  Pour into glasses, or into 1 quart sized mason jar (fits perfectly).  This is a perfect breakfast to take on the road and drink on your way to work or enjoy the rest throughout the day.  I have been bringing this exact smoothie to work in a mason jar, and it keeps really well in the fridge.  Some protein powders cause your smoothie to separate in a weird way, but Perfect Fit Protein does not.  

PS.  If you have been contemplating to buy a Vitamix, you SHOULD!  I had been contemplating for years, but I finally took the plunge and it is worth every.single.penny.  Yes, they're expensive ($500-$700ish) but I use mine almost every single day and it really helps me keep on track with my health, and for that reason alone it's a good investment!


Tone It Up Protein Powder

This is by far the best plant based protein I've used (I think some others will agree).  Often, plant based proteins are very gritty and have a very distinct weird flavour that I don't love.  Perfect Fit Protein is not gritty and the flavour is tasty.  I have only tried the vanilla, but I'm sure chocolate would be good too ;)

Whey protein powder is tasty, creamy and delicious....but....it makes my stomach swell like a balloon!! Not fun.  This is by far the best alternative I have discovered.  Give it a try and let me know what you think!


These frozen diced avocados are GOLD!  I bought these from Costco and they are ammmmazing!  They make your smoothie extra creamy and you can't taste them!  Sometimes I find it hard to use up my avocados before they go bad...so these are PERFECT!
